Post-Op Pain at 9pm
Deserves Better Than a Beep
Your front desk goes home at 5. Your patients don't stop calling. callhand listens for the urgent phrases you configure — post-op bleeding, severe pain, swelling — and flags them immediately. Your emergency-forward setting decides what happens next; everything else becomes a clean, structured message for the morning.

Built for Patient Calls
Urgent Words First. Structured Messages for Everything Else.
The practice owner chooses which phrases flag an urgent call and how after-hours calls should be handled. Routine requests arrive as structured messages for staff.
Urgent Keyword Flagging
Post-op bleeding, severe pain, swelling, a knocked-out tooth — configured phrases are flagged immediately. Everything else waits politely for morning.
Owner-Controlled Forwarding
Choose the emergency-forward after-hours behavior when a flagged call should reach the number your practice designates.
Appointment Request Capture
Name, callback number, reason for visit, preferred times — structured and ready for your front desk to confirm, not a garbled voicemail to decode.
Prescription & Billing Capture
Refill requests and billing questions become tidy, categorized messages for staff — not medical advice from an AI.
Structured Message Path
Use the take-message after-hours behavior when a request should wait for staff judgment instead of an immediate transfer.
After-Hours First
Your front desk keeps the daytime phones. callhand covers evenings, weekends, lunch rushes, and overflow — the hours voicemail used to own.
Compliance, Honestly
Where We Stand on HIPAA
We are not HIPAA-compliant today, and we won't pretend otherwise. Plenty of services market to dental and medical practices without ever mentioning HIPAA — we'd rather tell you exactly where we are.
-
Today: callhand is designed to minimize protected health information. It collects callback details and the reason for the call at a triage level — it does not discuss diagnoses, records, or treatment details.
-
On the roadmap: HIPAA compliance with a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA), SOC 2, secure message delivery, and practice-management write-back. We won't market those capabilities until they're real and audited.
-
What to do meanwhile: if your after-hours line must handle PHI today, ask us — we'll tell you honestly whether callhand fits your workflow yet. For triage-and-callback answering, it does.
